Issue Leader: Shahryar Minhas Ever since the White House announced the increased tax revenues President Bush has been pushing Congress to make the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent. Some questions to ask are whether making those tax cuts permanent is beneficial to the economy as a whole, whether the benefits that are accrued from tax cuts spread to all levels of society, and lastly if that is the type of tax reform which is needed at this time? Tax reform is of course deeper than simply the tax cuts issue, there is also the often forgotten Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), which more and more middle class families are being forced to pay. This issue will play a role in the November elections, and there are many question to answer and ask.
