"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorius triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."

Taxcuts

Issue Leader: Shahryar Minhas

Ever since the White House announced the increased tax revenues President Bush has been pushing Congress to make the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent. Some questions to ask are whether making those tax cuts permanent is beneficial to the economy as a whole, whether the benefits that are accrued from tax cuts spread to all levels of society, and lastly if that is the type of tax reform which is needed at this time?

Tax reform is of course deeper than simply the tax cuts issue, there is also the often forgotten Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), which more and more middle class families are being forced to pay.

This issue will play a role in the November elections, and there are many question to answer and ask. If you have ideas for position papers on the issue or simply would like to submit one that you have already completed then please get in contact with me.
